I would say well done, nice and clean, but I think you should have bought Edward's PE set as well. This would have added another level of detail over the whole
ship, and Jeff Sharp's W.I.P. is probably the best one here. I have both PE sets for mine when I get around to building her.
But I really want the proper anchor studded link chains and 9 chain locks, 3 for each anchor chain, I think I may know where to get the studded link chains
in brass but the smallest for this scale will be 6 links per inch that is made, the only way I'll know if it will work will be to buy a pack from the UK and it's expensive, then use
the 20 L.P.I for the chain locks, that just happens to be the perfect size and scale for the 1/200 Mikasa.
I think the color is still a little to dark for my taste but is very close to what I will paint mine, just a little lighter with very minor post shading and the aircraft in yellow.
Otherwise, nice build, some issues but I'm not going to "rivet count".
Good work.

Hello:

I am just breaking sprue on my 1/200 AZ. Your build is truly outstanding and one that I will refer to when working on mine. Thanks for posting your work and links you provided.

That's most impressive!. The fat hulled dreadnoughts just make me happy. Dunno why. My 1/426 Arizona isn't going to look anywhere near that good. Party because the kit is junk and has quite a bad cast (at least the one i got) and partly because i haven't touched a model since my pre-teen years. lol.

Man your rigging looks great too. I'm not a fan of the 5-D scheme, personally, but you certainly did it justice. Outstanding work.

On the first page he said:

I used LifeColor 5-D Dark Gray. I've heard this isn't a perfect match. However, to my knowledge, that is based on a single aged specimen that is described as "blacker than black". To me that sounds like age has changed the color and I'm quite happy the results here. Obviously, I have no idea what 5-D really looked like back in the day. While LifeColor has a good product line including naval colors, be advised that you will need to add some retarder to prevent LifeColor from drying in the airbrush tip. I've seen many others reporting this as well.

I know it's been a bit since this was posted but what brand of paint did you use for the 5-D dark grey?

Yes, I ordered a custom acrylic case from http://www.casesforcollectibles.com.

I've bought from them before. Good outfit.

Lovely work. Very crisp and clean. I like the color - it is not as dark as 5D, but fits the model well.

I am glad I finally picked this kit up (killer Squadron sale). I will have to consider the Mk 1 set whenever I get around go building her.

That is absolutely beautiful work, and the PE looks perfect, what did you use for glue on the PE railings?

Also, where did you get your anchor chain, it looks fully 3D?

Thank you for the compliments. In this case, I used super thin CA for the railings. There is a raised lip along most of the deck edges which was ideally suited to running a microbrush with CA along the ridge of this lip while the railing laid just inside. No section is more than 2.5-3", as even the railings along the deck edge are broken up by the deck edge tie offs and stanchions. For more traditional kits and PE, I would plan to use a PVA type glue. I've ordered some Gator Glue to try for this.

The chains are copper chains that came with the kit. If they hadn't come with the kit, in this scale I would have looked for an external source anyway.
