Hello, 'Ibuki' followers.... well here is another video of F-35Bs and JS Izumo ..... https://www.dvidshub.net/video/816439/u ... s-js-izumo

Even though 'Ibuki' IS a Fictional Ship.....and Izumo will Probably not have that 'ski-ramp' that many people are SO Fond of ..... I might have to buy another Izumo-class ship to make this modification, at least on the deck.

Hello all...... even though it has been a LONG Time since I have posted on this page....here's an update...

Although 'Ibuki' is a fictional ship of an Izumo-class DDH, she JUST deployed, for testing/evaluation of the FIRST F-35Bs onboard deck.....

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6MKSgb-gq9I

And although the link is in Japanese, you can get the idea.... the First F-35Bs from USMC onboard JS Izumo DDH-183!!

So, my build is partially correct!

Yeah....I thought about that, also...... So What I thought was, placing a "Box" where the E-2C mast would sit on...... That "Box" then would rotate with that WHOLE structure!!!!

AND.... MayBe ..... That same "Box" can pan-down ( KIND-a like that turret that was on the APC from the movie "Aliens" ) :thumbs_up_1: :lol_pound:  :faint:

I mean......... It is a 'Fictional Ship'!

It's an interesting concept, though it'll make it impossible to fold the wings for storage!

A short update, first, I have done the rigging on JS Kaga, my current build. I must admit it Was a bit of a bear, just making sure it was not tangled TOO Much, which it did in the end. But even more so..... I added a few pennants on the lines! There are two (2) different lines MIG rigging was used on the sig flags & ensign and ModelKasten was used as a radio lines. More can be explored in the JS Kaga DDH-184 build, listed here....

viewtopic.php?f=59&t=309348

But the bigger news was this............ I been posting my builds online on YouTube, just a collection of photos of WIP & short videos, when I ran into another modeler of a Hygua-class vessel. This other modeler 'J. Head' does mostly 350 scale ships, and He has Quite a collection!!! But the big thing I want to introduce is an EV-22, an AWACS-type on-top of an MV-22 Osprey!!!

Image

He had something very similar with a 'triangle' rad-dome..... which Would make sense, since the circular one could 'interfere with those Big Rotors' on the Osprey!!! ( Besides, it Looks cooler ) :cool_1: 'J.Head' says hes mentioned it to the Navy/Marines { not sure if true }, but it would make More of a better platform, instead of flying helos around like the Brits do...... I don't know, but What I do know is .... on a "fictional ship such as 'Ibuki' It fits!!!" Here are some more picts, not painted just let, but I was thinking painting it with VF-111 tail colors!!!

Image

Image

Image

So.... we'll Try  to get with the rigging on Hyuga & maybe 'Ibuki' and MayBe some more photos of EC-22 painted.... :jump_1:

So a few things that I want to share pix with and ideas on the Ibuki kit, but first, even though it is a completed model, I want to show a few more things like doing rigging on masts, weathering, and a lower hull.

I do want to do rigging on the masts, radio antennae using such rigging, but have never done it before :newbie: . So I purchased a couple of different brands, one way of doing rigging, that I heard of, is using fly-fishing line, so I purchased some (ehh)expensive thread, I also bought Mig rigging to compare, but saw a YouTube video of somebody using Ulschi (sp) line. The thread is Veevus at 16/0 and 8/0 thickness (don't know what that means, but seller says it was the thinnest), the Mig rigging is @ 0.02 and 0.01mm, the Ulschi, I'm holding off to see which I prefer.

I also wanted to use the AK International weathering 'paints' (?), I want to do those for quite awhile. And I have AK has the Naval Weathering in sets 1 & 2, with various 'solutions'. I do have a couple of 'test "hulks"' that I have from previous builds that I will test the on. Hopefully, I can show both on this side of the site.

Lastly, I want to mention that Tamiya 1/700 Ibuki kit is a GREAT kit...to add more detail adding the PE for this kit (that I have already mentioned) adds A Lot, but in lacks the lower hull for the ship. Thanks to 'Spejic' who sent me several lower hulls for some of the ships I'm building, so here are a few pixs of the hull....

Image

Image

I also added brass rod to the struts, I have always had those plastic struts Break on me!! :censored_2: , the brass color is a combo of gloss black undercoat follow-on by Model Master - Brass (enamel).

I do want to, again, thank 'spejic' for the assistance with the lower hull, but in addition those hulls were all wrapped separately, with associated gear....rudder, screws, fins, and a few hulls with sonar domes.

I will continue to show the rest of the updates...soon.

An BIG Update on the photo-etch for Tamiya "Ibuki" ship (aka Izumo-class+ski ramp) :cool_1: .

It looks like Tetra Models has a photo-etch set for this kit and It LOOKS :cool_2:

The set includes All rails for the galleries (boat deck and accommodation ladders), ladders going onto the FD, rails around the top of the island (bridge + flt bridge), PE for weapons (CIWS and machine guns!!), Including the refueling deck (the hole on the island starboard side). As well as netting around the FD, A/C and helo PE, it even includes brass antenna......I must admit this looks like a SWEET PE set :jump_1: :woo_hoo:

The Only Thing missing are the hull vents, but...... check it out!!

http://tetramodel.com/?act=shop.goods_v ... 02&GC=GD03

If I have not seen the Artist Hobby set, I would have like to build that Ibuki with this set....or Maybe not buying that Hasagawa PE set for Izumo-class kit from Pitroad..... :Mad_6: :doh_1:

AlMost there.....well at least until I make a hull for the ship, we'll see, but this is the Tamiya 'fictional carrier' DDV-192 Ibuki an Izumi-Class DDH with a sky-ramp and many F-35B's. A Fun kit to make, and with the addition of Artist Hobby making a PE set for this kit and a little research on your part will make an Outstanding kit! On my part a little more patience with catwalks (aft) and weapons SeaRam on island, it came out quite well.

Comments on ship besides what I mentioned would be appreciated.

Decals on the deck!! Check out the support on JBD, used the 1/700 GMM 'Nimitz-class' PE just trimmed it down for placement. Might be moving this site to the 'Finished models' side, but not sure how to do that..... Timmy C could you help me with that, also will try to put rigging, weathering (?) {most JMSDF ships are kept pretty 'clean'.....do those ships get dirty?? :thinking: }

YEAH!!!!! :doh_1: :doh_1: Yeah, I know.....didn't see that until I had S-glued the SeaRam to the base and painted and Then took the photo. I might have to pull that forward CRam....its just that the other CRam, back aft....the dome is too short, got mis-cut.....I have to look into it. I think that I should Keep the original weapon system that came with the kit.

Thanks TimmyC and Captain Morgan for the comments. :eyes_spinning:

That’s sort of like Cleavon Little pointing the gun to his head in Blazing Saddles. “No one move or the ****** gets it.”
