Thank you so much. I tried pre-shading for the first time, and actually, I was very satisfied with the result. :cool_2:

Another ship of 1/700 scale has joined my collection.

I used 'Wash for Grey Decks' and 'Streaking Grime for Light Grey Ships' from AK Interactive Naval series for the first time while washing. And also, AK's modeling full Ahead 1 book was a very good source indeed.

I would be very appreciated if one of the moderators who saw the topic moved to the "Completed models".

Have a nice day. :thumbs_up_1:

Hi again,

After I applied the decals, I varnished her. I will wash up for details and finish.

I've also prepared the board to display the ship.

Unfortunately there were no heliped lines on decal paper so I had to draw it by hand. I tried to draw it with a brush first, but i couldn't. So I painted the heliped white first, masked the lines and threw the paint back. I think the result is satisfactory.

I lightened the primary color a little bit and made the panel effect look better. I think it looks better now.

What a proud Navy career you've had sir. Belknap-class cruisers are one of my favorite ships, I can't wait to see your built. :thumbs_up_1:

Best wishes from Turkey.

You're right, that is a good photo of the two types of mast. Stein's page in Navsource (http://www.navsource.org/archives/06/06021065.htm) has several photos of the ship after decomm, moored in a nest between two ships with the oter type mast.

I believe the GMM pe sheet provides the same topmast as the Flagship Models sheet - the one that is narrower.

I think the difference between the lattice topmast you mentioned is like in this photo.

I saw this PE set produced by Gold Medal Models when I was researching PE sets for this built, where there is a lattice mast for the Knox class, although it is not certain that I have not seen it closely, may be this is suitable for USS Stein's lattice.

Best wishes. :wave_1:

There is at least one dedicated PE set for the Knox class, coming from Flagship models.
https://flagshipmodels.com/collections/1-700-details/products/1-700-scale-knox-class-frigate-details
However, it was designed in 1995 and is fairly coarse by today's standards.

It has a couple of non-generic including rounded railings and lattice platforms. Unfortunately for me, the 1052 class had two different designs of lattice topmast, and my ship, Stein, had the one that is not in this set.

I was wondering if you had found a modern set that has parts tailored for the ship.
Thanks,
Rick
