Giampiero,

You should thank Tracy, Ron Smith and John Snyder, they had the answer. I just posted the images because I still have an active image hosting website.

I don't know the color of paint used for the decks, it wouldn't be painted in a camo pattern since dazzle was intended for submarines. But, I assume that a medium/dark gray paint like what was used by the USN during WWI and between the wars on destroyers would be most likely.

Giampiero,

I contacted some WWI USN camo experts (Tracy White, Ron Smith and John Snyder) and they said this is a four color scheme using;

Black (Blk)
White (Wht)
No. 3 Blue (3B)
No. Blue Grey (1BG)

All these colors are available from Colourcoats, except for No. 3 Blue, which is a close match to FS 15102.

Trying to see if we can post the design sheets. OK I got two small versions of the design sheets that applied to USS WARD from Ron Smith and John Snyder.

One of the design sheets for USN destroyer dazzle camo is available for downloading from the NHHC website ... https://www.history.navy.mil/our-collec ... 03218.html ... BUT it is Type N-12 design K which used a different pattern and group of colors than was used on USS WARD (Type N-12 design B).

Also, Tracy told me about USS WARD's WWI dazzle camo being discussed on Modelwarships at this link about 5 years ago ... viewtopic.php?f=69&t=153065 ...

I labeled the only photo of USS WARD that I had found and scanned at the US National Archives in this pattern, a portside view, with the colors used as best I can. Also, I downloaded a high-res (but poor quality) image from NHHC showing the starboard side and labeled some areas on this image. White and Black areas are fairly obvious, but the other two paints are harder to tell apart because in grayscale they are pretty close in contrast. It is hard to tell which areas on the superstructure were painted with what color without the design sheets. Plus, it looks like USS WARD wasn't painted "exactly" to the design sheet pattern.

Ciao to all,

I wanted to make the model of the ship USS Ward's with this camouflage from I War, or a twin unit always with this type of camouflage.

What colors were used for camouflage and the deck?

Thanks Giampiero
