I know it is a farcry, but there may be some hope. Italy did have some beautiful ships that were build before and during the war.

Other than that, my wish list is (in no particular order)

RN Roma,
USS Enterprise CVN-65, modern
USS Midway CV-41 as built.
USS Midway CV-41 Gulfwar
Tennesse class rebuilt.
USS Wasp CV-7 WWII
USS Ranger CV-4 any
Any and all Royal Navy aircraft carriers WWII
Any modern US carrier in 1/700 (reasonably priced) $50.00 and under.

Oh I hope for a Brooklyn class...

Just an old thread but did we ever get a county class cruiser in 1/700 or remains unattainable?

I would love to see a full hull version of KGV. Does anyone have any ideas how I can modify an existing lower half from another kit into KGV lower half? Until someone makes a kit for KGV I am not sure what to do actually. The WL series from Tamiya are just not cutting it if they dont include the FH.

It's maybe a somewhat cheap way to do it, but Nichimo 30cm series included KGV. You may use the lower hull which is a sepparate part. For KGV's 210m WL length, these are at 1/700...

Flyhawk has announced KGV class kits - first up will be Prince of Wales, if I recall correctly. They usually offer their models with a full hull option. Just wait a little longer and you'll get your wish.

Prince of Wales - kit number 1117
Duke of York - kit number 1118

I second what MatthewB said. I'd also add transports and auxiliaries, for IJN and USN for that timeframe.

So....

I know that we now have an IJN Shiratsuyu-class DD (several of them).

What other ships on this list have been made since the poll was begun?

Personally, I would like to see Brooklyn, St. Louis, and Northampton-class cruisers (hell, ALL Cruisers, USN, RN, RNZN, RAN, etc. not just USN and IJN, which seems to be the preference of the manufacturers, considering their primary market)

Of course, for me this works, since I am personally most interested in '42 - '43 Pacific War, when the IJN still sort-of had a fighting chance (had they been a little smarter).

OH! And how about a Pensacola-class Cruiser, which is hard to get even in Resin.

RN ships if one sees that Tamiya produced Hammann destroyer which was sunk at Midway, and some other subjects, both Hermes, Dorsetshire, Cornwall, Canberra, Exeter, Perth should be in Nipponese plans. At least the Heavy cruisers surprises me that no one of the big four has presented yet.

What RNexeter said.
The RN cruisers, especially, are woefully under-represented in plastic. Granted, the 1/700th market is tilted towards the IJN by its nature. But in recent years the manufacturers have given us significant numbers of WWII USN cruisers; time to expand that attention to their RN counterparts (not to mention certain other Allied & Axis nations).

Other than the big 5 American battleships at Pearl Harbour, I'd also like to add the post-war Colossus class light fleet carriers- specifically HMCS Warrior, HMCS Magnificent and HMCS Bonaventure- as my most second wanted in 1/700. I'm a fan of RCN naval aviation as well.

So far the only models I've found online of these ships in 1/700 are scratchbuilt by another guy from Peru, I think, who made his own mold to mass produce a series of post-war Colossus class carriers.

HP Models and L'Arsenal did them in resin. Check with them to see if they are still in production. Plastic kits of these ships aren't totally unlikely in my opinion but you'd probably have to settle for kits of the designs as built. It might not be practical to do all the different subsequent modifications in plastic.

D'OH!

Well obviously I haven't opened my one Trumpeter 1/700 USS Maryland kit yet.

:heh:

That makes life much easier since you gave me an source for Tennessee/California in their 1941 configurations.. Though my local hobby shop's owner might raise his eyebrows in surprise if I did order 4 more Trumpeter Maryland kits if I do want to finish my Pearl Harbour battleship row collection.
