Topic review - 1/350 Stud-Link Chain from WEM

The alternative is to paint every link to give the chain link an impression of rounded cross section.

I have to say prefer this over actually manually putting tiny styrene studs into metal model railroad chains anytime.

Relief etching? The links are only 1.5mm long, and will be etched on 5 thou brass to give sufficient depth. We can do them in 1/700, but think about dealing with links .75mm long....

I was thinking very hard  and finally: I have a question:
Will there be a 1/700 version?
If yes, put me on the list.
I don't know if it is possible or is already applied for the 1/350 version but some kind of relief etching to give the chain links some kind of 3D appareances (not too flat) would be very great.

Btw, I hope the studded chain PE will be in thick gauge brass to give the chain links required 3D thickness.

It's not as mad as adding studs to normal 1/350 scale chain like I did. :cool_1:

That is so mad, I might just have to try it.

Am planning to do dreadnought at anchor, just to use the torpedo nets provided in the the set for her.

Well, Mad Pete obviously has had too much time on his hands! Taking a short break from working on our 1/350 Warspite PE, he's come up with this:

Image

PE 35157 consists of over 700 individual links of 1/350 battleship-sized stud-link anchors chain, to be assembled into any required length. Yeah, I know, it sound like something to turn the sane into the insane, but it's probably less fiddly than some of his radar parts. Something to do on long winter nights. This should be with us in about 3 weeks, price £4.95 including VAT. And think very hard before asking for a 1/700 set--he's just mad enough to do it!
