I could not find any detailed plans when I started my build, so I want to make my plans available to the forum members in case anyone else would like to build 'Prinz Eugen'.
I'll ask in the "Calling All Ship Fans" section.

I finally got a couple of monhs this year where I could concentrate on the Prinz. Rigging and some of the smaller parts still needs to be worked on, but the finish line is now in sight

More detailed photos to follow later :wave_1:

PS. I promised Olaf my finished drawings of Prinz Eugen. Could someone please tell me where to email them?

Moved on to the cubicles for the target equipment on the bridge.

For the past many weeks, I have been working on the rear/main mast
A bit of a puzzle, but after numerous repairs because of the flimsy parts that kept breaking, and breaking off it has finally been finished.

I really do worry when the time comes to add the rigging. A lot of rigging has to be attached to these delicate parts.

At the moment I am working on the ship's boats.
I have finished the two launch vehicles
64 Ships boats 1.JPG
and now working on the Admiral's motor boat
66 Admirals motor boat.jpg
All the fittings are also ready (although I am sure that I have forgotten to make one or two).

This pretty much sums up where my project is at the moment.

To make the build, I had to make detailed drawings of each part since I cannot make the parts free-hand.
Since the drawings are all made in scale 1/200 I combined them in two complete drawings; a 1/200 Starboard view and a 1/200 Top view, both in resolution 150dpi.
These two drawings will of course be made available when the build is finished and with it the drawings.

Since Photobucket suddenly made payable all images displayed in blogs etc, I gave up posting.
That didn't mean that I stopped working on the Prinz, and I am now finally in the final stages of the model.
Apart from the fences, the superstructure is finished

Thanks mick and Capitao

Night rangefinders finished (just a bit of clean-up needed)

Image

and I also finished a couple more loudspeakers, they are disbursed throughout the superstsucture

Image

they are so tiny that I can hardly hold them with my tweezers

Finally my Photobucket seems to work :o so here are some updates with pictures:

Tower platforms with timber decking

Image

and seen from underneath

Image

The support platforms for the night rangefinders (placed on the front superstructure) seen here together with the revolving catapult assembly (the catapult is still to come).
The catapult rail was a bit of a nightmare to construct as a 3-sided u-profile from only 0.25mm thick polystyrene sheet - breath too heavily and the rail falls apart
Succeeded at the third attempt though :D
Also shown is one of the two swing-out wings at the top front of the superstructure

Image

Earlier I finished the main mast on the signals platform (over the hangar roof) where the search light platform also had to fit in (a really advanced puzzle in 3D)

Image

That'll be all for this time
Now I "just" have to construct the night rangefinders, the domes for the large rangefinders, all the fences and the top of the hangar to finish the superstructure.

No FrancisMcN, the challenges of building as much as I can myself is what I love most about scratchbuilding.

Hi Poul,

Were you planning to make use of any of the fittings that Hachette provided in their partwork Bismarck?

The AA guns particularly come to mind.
