Dear Steve,

Try removing the tape as soon as you've finished painting, before the paint has had a chance to dry properly. Any edges that form should be a bit softer. That won't work so well if you are applying multiple coats of acrylic, though.

Or you could wait until the paint has totally hardened, and then go over the edges with a very fine sanding or polishing stick, used with water to take off the raised step.

I appreciate the input, actually a pretty cool tip, but I am not referring to color bleeding. Let me see if I can explain a little clearer. After the area has been brush painted, when I remove the tape I always seem to get a raised edge/tape line where the paint was against the tape edge. Hope that makes sense.

You're essentially just sealing that edge so there's no bleeding..

When you are brush painting a small area that has been masked off how do you avoid edges/tapes lines? I am using fine artists brushes, model masters acrylics slightly thinned, applied in multiple thin coats. Any advice greatly appreciated.
