Thanks I know that site, it is quite old and hence the pictures are rather small resolution.
I've only found this which is somewhat decent and shows the mounting at least the back side of it.

Hello, long time lurker of this thread.
I have a question regarding the length of the starboard deckhouse of Repulse after her 1939 refit.

As posted by Timmy C back in 2016 and Alan Raven's Ensign 08, the starboard deckhouse was reconstructed and visibly photographed. Notably, JCRay suggested that:

p.s. I should point out that sketch is inaccurate slightly because there is an offset between the rear of the deckhouse and the rear of the starboard gun-house. That offset is visible in the rebuild photos.

Based on what I could observe in the photos, I have some hesitation to this statement. Notably, in the photo Timmy posted, there is a bar just immediately above the venting pipe that connects the bulkhead to the existing superstructure. There is also a guiding rail running below it that seems to be inline with the superstructure.

These two connecting rails become much more visible after some contrasting edits to the photo of Repulse in Ensign 08:

Current photoetch and upgrade kits for the 1/700 kits still suggest that there is an offset. If there indeed isn't an offset and the whole deckhouse is in line with the superstructure, then I would have to scratch build this structure. Could I have been tricked by the constructing photos, or are there any photos that show the offset more clearly?

For any so inclined I recently finished a new painting depicting our HMS RENOWN engaged off Norway at the Battle of Stromvaer, 9th April 1940. I couldn't find a single picture of the Battle of Stromvaer, so decided to paint one. I hope you will enjoy seeing this..

Kevin,

I would agree; subject to someone else confirming it, that the smaller of the two pictures in your last post in HMS ANSON. There is one feature visible in which she differed from other members of the class that indicates this. However, identification of the ship in the blurred larger picture is a different matter. I don't think now that it is HMS DUKE OF YORK (DoY). It may be HMS HOWE; which I believe had a similar camouflage scheme to ANSON at the time but the whole of the port bow of that ship is darker than that of the small picture showing ANSON. I wouldn't bet my pension on it though!!

That said, many thanks for the information on the late Rear Admiral Griffiths.

Is "someone" sure that the photograph in question is of HMS REPULSE? It looks suspiciously like a KGV to me. It's possibly HMS DUKE OF YORK. I believe that she was well photographed/filmed while on her trials. The camouflage scheme is somehow familiar too.

The last HMS Repulse survivor has crossed the bar. RIP Rear Admiral Guy Griffiths.

As they would say Down Under, at 101 "he had a good inning's".

FlyHawk FH350023 (easy to buy)

One of modeller I know tried Flyhawk Repulse PE, the feedback is good.

Haven't known anyone trying Lionroar yet, cant comment on it.

Generally speaking, Flyhawk PE has a larger stock worldwide. It is hard to get Lionroar's stock these days

On the 79th anniversary of the demise of Repulse (and PoW), wondering if we'll see any of our fine sponsors in the 3D print space release a corrected aft superstructure for the Trumpeter kit? (hint hint) I know there is photo-etch sets that remedy this, but a 3D printed part would be most welcome.

Dear friends,

my Model of HMS Renown is making a little progress recently, I am working on tha aft superstructure and main mast. Basic source is a little polish book, Profile Morskye, and English books.
Now I got stuck with the yard and the several halyards and arials. In "Anatomy of the Ship, HMS Hood" you can find a drawing of the yard with 4 arials attached, each with a halyard (13).
Does anybody of you know whether Renown had arial halyards at the main yard, too?
And if so, did the run down the entire mast or only tothe starfish platform?
Would there be arial halyards at the foremast,too?

Sorry, once again I have more questions than my books could answer. I �d be grateful for your support!
