Well worth trying to find a copy, a very useful book when you are starting out. I also agree with Tony, white glue is strong enough to hold railings and much easier to correct a mistake.

Just found out that the company I was ordering the book from can't get ahold of it. Apparently it's tough to find. I'll keep trying.

As for white glue, I think I am going to give that a try. thanks

IIRC most of the pictures demonstrating the various techniques are in black and white. In the center section there is a gallery of a few pages showing a number of completed models in color.

I prefer white glue for railing because its more forgiving. If you make a mistake you can carefully remove the railing with little or no damage to the ship and railing. I also prefer to paint the deck and railing before assembly, which is required anyway if you use white glue. Once dry, the glue will not cause the deck or rail to become glossy (like superglue does).

Thanks for the info. Does the book have a lot of color pictures in it, or mostly just black and white? Also, curiosity.. why do you prefer white glue over CA?

Yes, I think its a pretty good book, worth owning. Covers various aspects of model ship building - tools, painting, assembly, working with PE, rigging, fixing seams /problems, scratchbuilding parts etc. I don't neccessarily follow all his recommendations (he uses superglue for railings but I use white glue) but good info nevertheless.
