Great thanks guys. I will be starting off with the PE fit on my POW this weekend. I am sure the model will probably not see the end of the weekend without earning a fair bit of air time

The books that Jason posted are well worth a look,
as for tools, well that is a matter of personel taste as everybody i know seems to have their own favourites. Here's a few of mine.
smooth flat nosed pliers 1 narrow 1 broad
a selection of dowel rods and steel rods 1mm-25mm dia
self hold tweezer's straight, angled and curved
6" steel ruler
single edge razor blades
Atlantic models P/E Folding tool(White Ensign stock this)

All of the above are cheap to purchase and will give you years of service. Hope that helps.

here are a couple of really good resources to learn how to work with PE. These are where I learned what I know, combined with the information I get from reading the different threads on this site.

Hey Guys,

I just got my order of photo-etch parts I ordered and I am comping at the bit to get stuck into it. Due to being overly excitted about starting I normally end up dissapointed with the end result due to poor planning.

I have decided to do some homework and not rush into the PE parts so there is a better chance it will turn out better than if I rush in head first. I have looked around for a guide (with pictures if possible) that would help me to get started or at least an idea of what to do. I have never used PE before and am still a noob at building models.

My experience with modeling is limited as I said, Aircraft builds as a kid and since getting back into in my adult life I have Built:

Tamiya Prinz Eugen 1/700
Tamiya Prince of Wales 1/350
Tamiya Missouri 1/350
Trumpeter Blue Ridge 1/700 WIP

I have started to accumulate models faster than I can build the as everyone else seems to be doing.

I have PE sets for the POW, Missouri, Liberty Ship, Hood and a few rail and ladder sets.

Any help on Tools, Supplies, procedures would be great.
