Thanks guys. Calm seas is what I am looking for so maybe I will give it a try.

The new realistic water that Woodland Scenics is putting out is an ok product, but it will only work for calm seas. You have to pour it in no more than a 1/8" layer at a time, and it is self-leveling. They have a different product that would work pretty good for bow waves and wakes, but the rest of the seas would be calm.

I have used it, and this is the result. This was my very first attempt at 700 scale, and first attempt at water. I think it's good if you are looking for very calm seas, but that's about it. You can't get any good waves with it. If it's the same I am thinking of (EZ water) then you have to heat it up first. If you do this, be careful not to melt your ships hull!

Does anyone know how well this stuff would work for modeling an ocean type diorama? I have seen it used on dioramas for trains and armor, etc. I am building a 1/700 LINCOLN strike group and am looking at all the ways water was made. The guy at the hobby shop said it should work but it is expensive and don't want to waste money if it is not really good for large dioramas.
