The color artwork in this book is from the old Warships in Profile series and it contains all, or nearly all, those that were published. It also includes some (such as Nelson/Rodney and Lexington/Saratoga) that were from titles that were announced but, to the best of my knowledge, never saw actual publication. In addition, most of them are printed larger, in some cases much larger, than they were in the original WIPs.

E. Pinneger's comment on Moore's book

It was one of the first warship books I acquired. I also was intrigued by some of the illustrations, which encouraged me to build my first two scratch built models ala E. Pinneger.

It is well worth acquiring. Since it was mass produced, copies are very inexpensive. It is a good book for ship modelers.

I also have this book - it's one of the things that got me interested in scratchbuilding warships. I built a (not very accurate or detailed) 1/200 HMS Cossack - in neutrality patrol colours, of course! - a few years ago using this book as a reference.

I grew up with that book; it made me fall in love with ships and ship models. I got for my eleventh birthday: now almost 19 years ago....

It's quite a common book and not too expensive second hand.
This type of artwork was used alot in books of that period, but is not always accurate.
