She did with two and the monitors M28 and HMS Raglan were sunk. Still, approaching a monitor remains risky, though not so risky as attacking coastal artillery.

considered it but i'm not sure, its over 2 hours away. Maybe if Alan goes down i'll hitch a ride with him... if not i'll be going to Heritage Days as Malabar Farm and getting me a cask of Saspirilly.....

Oh yeah, Abercromie was a you-know-what. Slow, but can turn on a dime. Plus, in RC combat, you have a minimum speed.

Calculating penetrable area is a stone-cold PITA. Since she was built Big Gun, she had an extra 3/8" freeboard available to her- that's what is probably throwing off the bulge.

Two hard hitting guns in a rotating turret- a formidable opponent. In Treaty Combat- I dunno, what's Mikey think?

BTW- Kenny, are you going to Xenia on Saturday?

interesting werner....

and i realize monitors probably wouldn't be the best for combat in normal circumstances but in rc combat they would, Sean seems to have quite a bit of experience with them.... just look at the pictures he posted.

Eh, i'm a small ship that moves slowly.... everyones going to know i'm there. And they will see it if i paint it gray anyways, the best color to hide with is Kure Naval Green, which blends in splendidly with the grass along the banks of the pond - an example is Kate Friends IJN Suzuya.... most guys never even see it when she cruises the coast.

However i doubt the Roberts was ever Kure Naval Green.... ha.

hmmm, that bulge doesn't seem right. According to the photos and drawings i've seen it should be a much more prominent bulge.

But i think thats the one i'm going with, i like the Roberts (class leader) for multiple reasons but one being its a family name, and i've seen a picture of it painted white which looked really cool...

Hey guys,

did the Erebus class have a bulge like the Roberts class?

i'm considering a monitor for combat and love the Roberts for many reasons including the bulge, but i'm told the Erebus would be a better ship...so i was wondering if it had the bulge like the Roberts does because that is one of the main things i love about Roberts that the pictures dont show and i cant find any plans.
