Paul,

I was wondering how the plan search was coming. I have a set of 1/72 plans for the 42-43 batch RCN Rivers. These are the Vanguard plans that I got about 15-20 yrs ago. They are quite faded and hard to use in my project but I may be able to redraw some sections in 1/200. The Vanguard plans are I believe $20 plus postage and are from a hobby shop in Ottawa. You could scale them down on a photo copier. Please note that there will be some differences in the Toronto vs the Vanguard plans as they represent the first 12 of the class (sort of inbetween modernizations ie single 4" fore and aft but twin 20mm power AA mounts) Also, there are some differences in vent placement between the '42-'43 and '43-'44 builds. Do you have photos of the damaged areas? Again, I could try to provide drawings of those areas to help the rebuild. Note: I working in accounting and auditing and I am not a draftsman

Davepb,
You mentioned that you had two offers for the plans in 1/96, I am also looking for a set of plans for the River Class frigates, I am repairing a 1/200 model of the HMCS Toronto that was in the wardroom onboard the modern Toronto. We took some heavy waves on our way back from our NATO deployment and the model ended up under a cabinet that ripped itself free from both the deck and bulkhead. If you could put me into contact with the other person who offered the set of plans, or if anyone who has a set can respond to me I would be most apprieciative.

Thanks in advance

Paul Morrison

To dave, if you are in need of plans for a Royal Navy built ' River ', you could google HMS FAL and you will find plans available. I bought the 2 sheets 7 years ago and found them to be very good, although the model I am scratch building is a Canadian version 'HMCS PENETANG'. For the absolute detailling, I have been to the Canadian Archives in Ottawa where the have the General Arrangement drawings still there on micro fisch for most if not all 'rivers' built in Canada (80).

Thanks, I've also had two offers for plans in 1/96th, one of which I've accepted. Great introduction to an A1 site. BZ

Hello,

You may be able to try here. I got the River plans 15yrs ago from them and they were not too bad. These are for Canadian built ships, specifically the frist 12 which had the single 4" fore and aft. The later ones had twin 4" forward and 12pdr aft. Also, the first 12 had single 20mm not the twin power mounts although these were later fitted.

I am presently building the HMCS St. Catharines in 1/72 but have not progressed that far. I have a hull and am working on the guns, bridge and aft 20mm platform. I need to really finish my corvette first.

Hi, Ive just come across this site while on my search. Does anyone have a copy of the Macgregor plan for HMS SPEY that I could buy or borrow, or drawings of another ship of this class? Macgregor plans are at present in limbo at SS Great Britain . I've just bought a copy of "Frigates Of The Royal Canadian Navy 1943-1974" where at least there is a drawing of one of the Canadian Rivers.

Thanks, Dave
