Re: HMS Roberts 1/700 Combrig - FINISHED

by DAVID BILEK » Wed Jun 18, 2008 5:03 pm

I just finished her! HMS Roberts took two months and it was pleasure to work on such good resin kit from Kombrig.
Next step will be small dio - calm water, then I have to add figures, some tug and small ships.

Probably last update before finish...

(you can see here optical effect with rigging - black wires look thicker than brown, althought both have the same diameter of 0,04mm)

To Mike - do not tell me more about our football team. It was not "unhappy" (as Czech newspapers wrote), it was really stupid disaster.

To Sean - I was never interested in monitors before (which resulted in mistake noticed by Jim...), but now I understand your cry for Roberts in your scale! Strange look and british beuaty!

Not quite as stupid as Petr Cech's last night though...

Lovely model, I can't imagine how you can manage to work so cleanly.

Hi JIM!

unfortunately I forgot for these pipes and shutes just two months ago when I started (and I had that time only one photo with camo in some japanese book - and there these things were not so visible) and now is too late - Roberts is only waiting for flags. I have to live without this! But it is stupid mistake, I agree...

Cheers

VERY VERY SHARP !

HMS Roberts- like Abercrombie-- had various pipes and gash shutes on the sides of the lower hull.

Will you add those later and touchpaint?

here is my old Abercrombie--forgive the poor photo quality--cameras ans know-how have moved on!

I assume you have the book BIG GUN MONITORS?--( the new one!)

if not--drop me an e-mail--I may be able to assist with images

I've always had a soft spot for monitors, and she is beautiful!

Superb, having just finished my first 700th scale kit, I've gained a new appreciation for you guys that build in this scale - some of those details must be tiny.

I already finished smaller parts - from funnel thru main and secondary guns to POM-POMs and directors. Now is time for rigging... again, complete step-by-step progress on my website http://www.sweb.cz/davidbilek

For the cutters on the bow - I decided to paint them and to add details "on board", which is more comfortable than to prepare them separately...

Re: HMS Roberts 1/700 Combrig - UPDATE

by DAVID BILEK » Fri Jun 06, 2008 9:41 am

Thanx to all for comments :wave_1: !

2 Michael E. : cable reels were made from Lion Roar IJN Reels (LE700053) because they look similar as RN reels (I think..). I added only plastic rods with 0,1mm copper wire.

2 Miguel: small rafts are from Pit-Road US Navy common parts sprue (E-9) and big rafts were stolen from HMS Rodney kit (Tamyia). So no detailing! Only 0,1mm copper wire added. See pic please.
