I have the "Warrior to Dreadnought" and "The Grand Fleet" and have seen the last of the four in the series. (At least I think it is the series you are refering to. Certainly the books I have are by DK Brown and deal in detail with the design of the various classes of RN ships through the ironclad and dreadnought ages and into the modern period, though I thought the third book was called something like "Nelson to Vanguard".) The books mentioned are detailed in their descriptions and contain many relevant photos and diagrams. They would not, however, be as detailed ship for ship as Lacroix and Wells "Japanese Cruisers of the Pacific War". As a Naval Architect Brown is more interested in the seakeeping qualities of the ships, the various measurements of stability etc and in the evolution of designs as specifications and/or intelligence on emeny vessels change. As history books they are excellent, whether you would find them useful as a modeller depends on what you are wanting to get out of them. Hope that is useful and sorry if this is not the series you are interested in.

Hello Nansung,
The Eclipse of the Big Gun is one of the books in the 12 volume "Conway's History of the Ship" series. It's pretty general, for our purposes, but does have some noted contributors, i.e. Ian Buxton, Norman Friedman, and others. The chapters are organized by ship types, chapter 1 is battleships and battlecruisers, chapter 2 covers aircraft carriers, etc. It's pretty good for a broad overview of warships from 1906-1945, and isn't very expensive. As a survey, it doesn't delve too deeply into any of the ships or battles. If you have any other books in the series, you'll know what to expect.
