Robert, Milliput is some sort of modelling putty that it is useful for almost anything (sand bags; blast bags; figurines, etc). Personally I believe that the White type Milliput is the best around for us in ship modelling. Check your hobby shops around you or google Milliput and you will find most certainly online shops selling it.

I've used milliput, around a piece of tubing (custom-made barrel follows from Nuttall, if he hasn't forgotten me). I used a drill to carve the foldings in the 'canvas'.

Hello Robert!

You are not the first and certainly not the last oneto ask about howto make blast bags!!! I use, normally, Milliput and it goes quite well. Since this product takes a while to dry you can shape it at your will. I've made blast bags with Milliput for the first time to my Tamiya's Prinz Eugen turrets and went very well. Just add a small part of Milliput around the gun barrel and then shape it and you can even give a certain texture to it. Good luck.

I use strips of kleenex dipped in a solution of water with some elmer's glue. Lets me shape it, and has a canvas-y sorta texture.

This is probably just me because as far as i know nobody else uses my rather odd method but...

There is an office product known as "blu-tac". I use that to mold it into the shape of the blast bag, creating creases etc. When I am happy (and if im not I can just remove it and start again) I flood it with CA to harden it in place then paint over it.

In 350 scale, I use aluminum foil (small strip or piece cut in shape of the blast bag) crinkled around the barrel and then given a coating of either white glue or Mr. Surfacer 500 or both.

Hello Everyone
I am here again to pick your brains
Todays topic is Blast Bags.
Can I get some idea's from you matey's on what you are using for blast bags
I have been using elmers glue. It comes out OK but I have seen much better
blast bags on here. before that I was using modeling putty, but I can't seem to find
that anymore. I Know there is a better way because Ive seen it on various ships
in the gallery.
Your input would be greatly appreciated.
