hello everybody,

This is a link for to see a very beautiful model of a french subchaser. The builder is Ren Coomans, a member of my club, and he has participed to the World Championship at Mons (Belgium) in 2000 with a silver medal for his "Jeanne d'Arc".

They might just be passing along the errors in the captions in the actual records; 80-G photos are notorious for mis-captions and I would imagine 80-GK is the same.

No, SCs did not carry torpedoes.

Tracy,
You're right, I clicked the wrong image and I haven't been able to reduce the correct image size enough to post it.
Also, the last color link I have to question. That history 101 site has accuracy issues when they categorize and label photos. So I'm wondering if SC's carried torpedos?
I'll try and figure out where I found that camo pattern.

Thanks for the help guys.

Russ, some cool shots in those photo links. Will definately come in handy.
Garth, thanks for the offer. I'll definately be in touch if I get stuck.

Currently adding plenty of detail onto the boat form photos in the book which is great. Once done I'll give the whole boat a repaint. Recreating the wooden deck could be a mission as it's currently painted but will see how it goes. Hoping to take her out for a spin on the water in a week or two.

Cheers,
Garry.

Garry,

Do you need help? If so, email me at PTConsultingNHR@aol.com and I'll try to help as much as I can. Unlike PT boats, SCs were pretty devoid of different schemes.

Garth

Hey Russ, the design sheet you posted is for a DE, not SC. Is that the one you meant to post?

Hi Guys,

Just to let you know I bought the "Subchasers in Action" book from Signal and it arrived early December. What an awesome piece of reference material. Has heaps of photos, both colour and black and white, supurb details shots and plenty of info. Now getting back into finishing of the model and sailing her again.

Thanks for the info about this book, and the company. I'll be chasing them for further material on my future builds.

I'll post up some pics for the model once I get a chance.

Cheers,
Garry.

The Squadron signal book is very good.
If you want the exact colors to match whichever color scheme you choose try contacting John at White Ensign Models. He can usually tell you the what the correct colors were and supply you with the paint. their paints are of the finest quality and they ship very quickly. John was alos one of the consultants on the Squadron book. :thumbs_up_1:

Try US 110' Subchasers in Action from Squadron signal; there are some colour profiles that you might find of use.

Hi all,

I have a 1:24 scale RC WW2 110' subchaser that is close to being finished. A small amount of detailling to be done to complete. I've never been happy with the colour scheme as I didn't have any colour photos to work off. All I had was an article in a scale marine modellers magazine of a 1:32 scale model a US builder made that had some colour photos of his model included.

Does anyone have any colour pictures of these boats during WW2. I have plenty of black and white ones but no colour. Any help would be appreciated.

Many thanks,
Garry.
