I will do some cross referencing and see what I find out. If I continue to run up dead ends for the AM info, I believe I can use that Info to complete the Bridge areas where I am lacking information.

Can you use the bridge from a destroyer-escort for reference? They seem to be somewhat similar.

Hey Dave, :wave_1: Far from Giving up on this one. Ive kinda made it a mission to find the referance material. Not just for myself but for other Modelers as well. I admit it can be frustrating as all get out :big_grin:

cadman, Great Idea. I might try another email to them and see if they have any photos on record somewhere.

Maybe someone can talk the museum staff at Omaha into opening up the top bridge at least temporarily. Until then there doesn't seem to be many photos off that area.

Hi Sweeper Skipper Keep going even though the amount of photo information is "limited" Your built will not be diminished by the lack of all the information you would like to have :thinking:

For all that are building AM Minesweepers or for those gathering information, Here is the only clear Picture I have found. USS Inagural Fly Bridge looking Fwd.
Add it to your research, These babies are hard to come by :big_grin:

Dave and Les, I agree. However it does strike me as odd that with Two AM's that were and are Museum Ships, Currently the Hazard, and the Now Gone Inagural, That there would be pictures out there somewhere. Both of those ships have the open Bridge desing im building.

As Dave said, Go with what I have, That is what I will do. :thumbs_up_1:

I know I've seen a resin model of one in 350 or 700 scale. Don't know the manufacturer. You could also check out the paper model companies. They might have one. In either case you could use them for a pattern for your ships.

Sorry about the Rant Guy's but this is most frustrating.
In one short sentence go with what you have. It's worth remembering no model is 100% accurate no matter how good the model builder.

Would it be an option to have a small part of the model build a little less accurate?
With my Well Enhancer i got drawings of almost everything of what was planned when i worked at the yard, but there have been numerous changes (because of a new owner), and those changes will be visible on my model, but those can't be made as accurate as i want it to be.
If you do have pics of those parts you can make a to large plate which will be used as part for the new piece, and then determine by looking to the pics and then to the model and keeping a finger at the place where it appears to be stopping.
Still cut it out to long so you check it out even better, and check the lot again.
If you do that over and over again you will come really very close, if not 100% accurate, as long as you have pics taken from different angles.

Well Once again i am coming up empty handed on the required information I need to really be accurate with this build. I have exhausted every resource I can think of and have come up with Zip for the Fly Bridge :heh: :heh:
So in the interest of accuracy I might be forced to reconfigure the build to a different version. One that has the required information available. Only problem is, That's not what I wanted to build.

Just curious, Has anyone following this thread built a Minesweeper of any class?
Personally I like the Minesweepers and Destroyers.

Some time back I emailed the Park that has the Hazard, Sent them pictures of the build, this is even when I had her painted like the Hazard, Never heard a word back from them :heh:
I would think that for as long as that Jewel has sat there, Photos of the open bridge could be found somewhere.

The Search continues.

According to Wilkepedia the company is no longer in existance. Wash. St. Ferries owns the site. I imagine the plans were thrown out. On second thought, someone might have them. You could always put an ad in the Bainbridge newspaper.

Les, yep she was built at Winslow Marine Railway and Shipbuilding Co., Winslow, Washington :thumbs_up_1:
Right here in our home State. Quit a few AM's were built here in Washington.

Admirable subject. So few modelers tackle these fantastic ships who litterally sailed in Harms way. The Bigger ships get the glory while these little guys swept the path for them to obtain that glory.

Interesting note about Hazard. She was built a few miles from my house in Kingston or Bainbridge. Can't remember which off hand.

Sweeper Skipper You can never be over your head. We "all" live and learn , regardless of skill level or ability. The real bottom line in this game is enjoyment and never to take ourselves and others to seriously . After all it is a hobby . Having said all that striving for accuracy and as good a build as we can achieve is no bad goal and in model building nothing is better than being half satisfied with the results.
