Sounds like ten years late, eh? Thanks for the clarification. And I always wondered about the confusion between two people talking about 'the' Breyer book ... :thumbs_up_1:

Happy reading ~ Olaf!

It's not a matter of publication dates, there are two different books. Battleships and Battlecruisers,1905-1970 has only drawings, Battleships of the World,1905-1970 has only photos. Battleships and Battlecruisers,1905-1970 was published in the early 1970's, Battleships of the World,1905-1970 in the 1980's.

Thanks Olaf. If you've ever seen the ships I make, they're not highly detailed. That drawing would be sufficiant for the models I make. I wish they could all be Raven quality though.

Can anyone confirm which publish date has drawings in the english version as indicated by G. Shoda

Breyer has 2 version as indicated by Olaf. One has photos only. One has line drawings only. I would recomend the later book. Photos in the first, if I remember correctly are often not the clearest. The drawings book is a very good reference book for background information if you are intested in information about armor layout, changes in appearance over time, etc.

Hi ~ No images because of copyright reasons to be posted here, but here's a link to an illustration to get an idea about what to be expected:

My (German) edition of the book contains generic plans like this, not very useful when you plan to build a highly detailed model of a specific ship. There's another version of this book containing photos of actual ships as well.

Happy modelling ~ Olaf!

I'm looking at ordering a secondhand copy of Siegfried Breyer's Battleships of the World 1905 - 1970. Could anyone that has a copy snap a pic of any plan/profile drawing so I can see what I would be getting? Money is tight so I don't want to buy something unless it's usefull. Thanks
