Dream Model will be releasing an injection-molded Lada class in December: http://www.1999.co.jp/eng/10297213
Two per box.

Probably you already found the answer, unless you're still as busy as yhou were before.
Anyway, the answer is that any missiles fired from Kilos are fired through the torpedo tubes. Pretty much like the US Sub Harpoon.
The main upgrades are electronics to guide the missiles and to be able to actually launch them.

The old 877 uses a regular non-skew 6-blade propellor. The later 636 uses a skewed (banana shaped blades) 7-blade propellor.

Kilo does not have a missile hatch on the top back, she only has torpedo tubes forward.
WOW! it has been a long time since i posted here. Very bussey with work and personal life.
My wife gve birth to our little boy and bought a new house.

I just found my kilo in the box and want to go on with the build. I just reed that the kilo class had no missles on the export variants. Do the soviet kilos have a special hatch to launch? or were they launched via the torpedo tube? or did the 636 model only have a special missle launch hatch?

Thanks in advance,

Remco :wave_1:

Hey Peppe,

The links you give are excellent!!! :woo_hoo:

There was a beautiful drawing of the 877. Just what i wanted. The photo's are good also.
I am not so good with computers, but if i begin to build the model i will upload some photo's from the build process. I only have to practice how to upload photo's...

Again many thanks :thumbs_up_1:

Regards,

Remco

Hey Timmy C,

Yes, i saw the pictures. They are verry helpful in finding the difference between 877 and 636.

I got 2 computerdrawings from a german site of the 877 and 636. Verry basic, but you can see the big vissual difference
between the 2 subs.

Also have a picture of the torpedo tube with the hatch open for maintanance in a factory/ shipyard for constructing the one of the tubes open. I want to try to make the missle hatch on top of the back open, but got no pics of that. I know witch hatch it is.

Does annybody know if the undersurface is painted with green paint? The most are with red paint. Green looks a bit cooler...

Thanks for the help Timmy,

Regards,

Remco

Hey guys,

I want to give an update on my research till now...

- In the bronco kit, the bulge on the back of the sub walks too far back. In case of the 636 type the bulge stops before the rear rudders. By the 877 type the buldge stopes on the half of the rudders.

- the length of the hull is questionable.

877= 72.6 meters (20.7 cm) with the proppeler. 70.0 meters (20.0 cm) without the propeller

636= 73.8 meters (21.8 cm) with the proppeler. 72.6 meters (20.7 cm) without the propeller

The kit's lenght is 20.0 cm what compares with the 877 type, not the 636 type.

The 6 or 7 blade propeller remains a mystery for me. I guess that the 7 blades where used on the 877 type first, and later the 6 blade propeller.

Any comments are welcome.

Regards,

Remco

Thanks Peppe!

Its indeed in French, but we can try to translate it. The photo's looking good!
It seems that the most difference is in the rear area. I shall see what i have to shorten or rebuild if i can translate.
I also read something about the propeller that some have 6 or 7 blades...

The diagram seems very interesting...
But that needs also translation.

Remco

Calling all Soviet Kilo-class (Па́лтус) & Lada-class (Лада) fans

Hello, I am Remco and like Russian/Soviet ships and subs.

I am very new at this, so feel free to teach me more about navy things and language.
My library currently consist about 1 serious book; The naval institute guide to the soviet navy fifth edition. Very good book.

Recently i purchased a bronco kit of the kilo class type 636 submarine (kit number 5011).
The kilo i want to make is is a 877 model.
There are 2 visual differences i read about;
1- a step on the aft casting (where is the aft located? what is a aft)
2- the length of the hull is extended by by 2 frame spacings 2x 600 mm. (where is it extended?)
I search a lot on the web, but i couldn't fined any drawings of the differences of the subs.

Can anybody help me with this?
