The 1945 'John Wayne' movie 'They Were Expendable' is all about the PT boats in the Phillipines and is full of filmed shots of PT boats in their coastal bases as well as in action - maybe not filmed in the original setting (not sure) but cetrtainly a very inspiring journey into the world of the PT boats in action.

Looking for help on Quonset huts, is there a set of drawings that would be good enough to scratch build some.
Is there a place for information on them? Was there a "standard" size or design used in WWII? How about later?

Any good online sites for them??

Both of those ships were C-1 and a lot smaller than a C-3.

Cliffy, if you like that LST conversion, what do you think of the C3 cargo conversions? I spent a fairly long time trying to find a kit of a C3 to attempt the conversion, but I never did. Heck, I've even considered tearing up a Bogue kit, but decided that scratchbuilding the bridge and deck would be way out of my league.

So it is an LST, hmmm... looked too small at first. Found some nice high-res photos of one of the LST tenders in that link. Has shots of PTs nested alongside and closeups of them aboard being worked on.

Its an LST reconfigured to an AGP by adding lots of gear to the main deck.
Specifically, that is AGP 11, USS Silenus. The converted LST's got named before other LSTs

Russ, what kind of auxiliary is that tender in the bottom photo? Looks like a small oiler and maybe an AOG. Do you have anymore photos of that tender?

Note that the left most objects in the following is a PT and a PT in floating drydock. Looks like SeaBee type. It seems to me that a SeaBee creation would be a better way to drydock a PT that using an ARD This is another way to drydock a PT.

Well, as we all know, PT Boats served from the worst possible types of naval centers. Now, I've seen a number of pictures of the various bases, but I keep wondering, what larger ships (repair vessels, tenders, damaged combatants), would have to be forced to use these primitive facilities? I've been planning on acquiring the Corsair Armada ARD-4 class floating drydock, along with some vessels (PGMs, SCs, PCs...) to be accompanying my 6-8 PT boats, but still want something...more. The PT bases must have had some degree of shore facilities besides the quonset huts, but as to what, is what I ask. I need as many pictures as anyone here could show of PT Boat bases and the various vessels around them. This will be my own diorama without any historical background, so any pictures would be fine.
