I have just finished reading Red Skorpion by Peter Sasgen. GOK why it was called that but it is the story of the commissioning and war patrols of the Gato class boat Rasher, including the story of the most successful war patrol ever by a US sub, her fifth patrol under Hank Munson. I have read O'Kane's Clear the Bridge and Ruhe's My War in the Boats (as well as Beach's fictional Run Silent Run Deep). Red Skorpion is by far the most readable and well written of the boat 'biographies' and I would thoroughly recommend it to any of you with an interest in the Silent Service
