After each ship there is always a little story.
From 16/01/1968 to 25/01/1968, when I was ten years, the ship Charles F. Adams visited the port of Marin (Spain) where is the Naval Academy of the Spanish Navy. It had been seven years since the entry into service of the CFA and was assigned to the Sixth Fleet and had made trips to other European ports. During their stay, students from the Naval Academy and officers could check the level of technology that incorporated the Adams.
At that time my father was a councilor in the City and was invited to a launch given by the Captain of the ship as a courtesy to the city.
When I "Modelwarships" I liked the content and encouraged me to re-build models and was a surprise to find the Charles F. Adams in the navy yard of Philadelphia.
In the last Christmas I thought it would be a good gift for my father to build the Charles F. Adams and give this surprise. Was building for a month, maybe a little rushed, but managed to finish and submit it with a little information about Charles F. Adams. When he saw the boat, immediately recalled, and of course like to have that model.
Shortly after, I was surprised that he had located two stories of Charles F. Adams in the Spanish newspaper ABC, about the ship's stay.
Here I leave the links to these two news I try to translate:
ABC 18/01/1968 - 44 years ago today !!!!!!.
Bottom right.

Seriously injured to overturn the jeep carrying the American sailor Philip James Paul. The accident happened on the road to Pontevedra Marin. The injured crew member of the American destruct "Charles F. Adams" anchored in Marin.
This is not good news, but I think the wounded recovered. In the website of the Association Charles F. Adams include its address.
ABC-24/01/1968
In the middle.

He sailed from this port the American destroyer "Charles F. Adams," which from the past 15 days was in this port visit of courtesy. It has been visited by gentlemen students of the Naval Academy to learn the art facilities of the ship, among which detection systems and radar control surface targets at sea or in the air, so as "ASROC" craft submarines, artillery and surface electronic system that allows the commander of the ship is controlled directly from the bridge all the weapons and devices of attack, defense, and navigation.
Perhaps with a little more time could have built in 1 / 350 this boat. When I was building I have discovered the technology of this vessel and its important role in the USN.
This is our little story of Charles F. Adams.
Greetings and thank you very much for your kind remarks.
Excuse me for the traslation.
