redoctober27 (love that moniker, btw) - Well, I prefer brass rod for masts because it takes the strain of my fishing line rigging better. Some of the PE masts, like those for the 1/700 Kagero class as done by FineMolds under their own name, or for Aoshima as a generic, are extremely well detailed, and to scale. But, they are more subject to bending under all but the lightest amount of pressure. If you were not planning to do rigging, then I'd suggest the PE versions. I like to scratchbuild the extras but, Rainbow makes some fantastic PE mast accessories that can attached to brass rod, if you're so inclined.

) and my Ushio actually took BOS at MosquitoCon 2011. However, this Shirakumo model did take BOS at the following RepliCon 2011 a few weeks later. It was a good year.
