And even better: I found a report giving the actual dimensions of the stern flap used experimentally on Arthur W. Radford (DDG 968) which must be very similar to the one used on CG 73. Span 34 ft and chord 5.3 feet. And the lower surface should not be in line with the ship's bottom, but canted a few degrees downward.

Hi Steve, better a late answer than no answer at all!
I eyeballed the CG 73 stern flap from the photos and made it in 1:350 scale: it's 28.7mm long (athwartships), 6.8mm wide (fore-aft) and 2.5mm deep. Its lower surface is in line with the ship's bottom.

Included here a picture of it: I believe it seems to be pretty close to the real thing.

One other difference that immediately comes to mind for me is there was a platform/walkway extension on the starboard side of the aft stack area that allows travel around the outboard intake. The change is present in, for example, Dragon's 1/350 Ticonderoga vs. Mobile Bay kits. Bunker Hill has this extension, but the kits boxed as "Bunker Hill" do not have this extended platform.

One conspicuous difference comes to mind and that is the first two ships of the class, Ticonderoga and Yorktown, had a quadruped main mast. The rest of the class had a tripod main mast.

Were there major superstructure differences between the first 5 Ticonderogas (Baseline 0 and 1) eg the twin arm launcher versions and the later ones (Baseline 2-4) eg the VLS equipped ones?
Like the VLS version superstructure moved forward and or taller?

Can anybody point me to a "map" of the radomes/antennas added during the late 90s - early 2000s?

I served on Cowpens from 1995-99, as a GSM, but was familiar with what we had up to that point.

Specifically, there are at least two radomes installed on the aft stack that I can't find references on.

The flags are painted on. The colours are shown on the navsource link above. It is the 4 letter call sign of the ship.
The e on the radar is white.
Not sure about #4, will see if I can find any better pics.

Ivan,

#1 would be the fleet, squadron or flotilla commander's insignia. I don't know what it was but you might find it on the Internet.

#2 Is several "efficiency" symbols, signaling that the ship made a good score in fleet exercises in the different categories.

These are the current symbols. They were sometimes different in the past, so you need to know the year.

The E on the funnel is for Engineering. It was red.

The E on the gun mount and missile launcher was white.

The large white E with black shadow on the bridge wing is for battle excellency.

I don't know what the EW and DC marks were for (EW = Electronic Warfare?).

The hashmarks "/" under the letters means the ship had won the award in the previous fleet exercises - one hashmark for each consecutive year.

#4 is the ships "ribbons" or medals awarded to the ship.

The blocky looking stuff are PCMS tiles.. radar absorbing material. One of the program challenges was to get the colors to match so that the CO would not direct they be painted. The stuff is somewhat degraded by one or more layers of paint.

Good afternoon.On the sly collect information that-would do "CG-48 Yorktown" on moment inhospitable meeting in the Black sea in 88 th year when they there mental race with kicks staged a.=)....On the Internet, I collected his photos for the period 87-89 years, but the trouble is that they are black and white and I do not understand many of them by colors.I would be grateful for any information..Sincerely, Ivan.
1) interested in an emblem resembling an eight in a circle.. 2) the colors of the letters and stripes on the ship's superstructure..3) what color are the letters on the rocket launcher and the " E " on the tube.4) if possible, anyone can have a premium pad in color..thank you in advance

Thanks Bruce for the reply. I have that book and the edition I have mistakenly labels it as the starboard side flag bag so I think I glossed over it before. However the area I'm specifically looking for is the area just forward of the flag bag and the "rack" where all of the ropes are tied. I don't think there is anything between the rack and the bridge structure but I just wanted to make sure.
