Another little point, I probably have as many flat brushes as rounds. Even if the flat is only and eighth of an inch wide, I'll use it on a flat surface instead of an eighth inch round.

Russ, thanks for your tips. I'll try those the next time I have the need to brush paint more than just a touch up area with WEM paint. Sounds very helpful.

Well, I've used WEM colorcoats on a DE hull and I tried t follow these rules:
1. Two or more thin coats is better than one thick coat.
2. Load only a third of the bristles with paint.
3. Run strokes out until you have a "dry brush"
4. After the first brush stroke, run the following strokes from un-painted to painted.
5. When finished an area, NEVER, EVER go back and try to fix any skips that you notice, which leads to
6. Fight your impatience and wait a few days between coats.
7. on the second coat, try using stokes that are perpendicular to your stroke direction on the first coat.
8. If you want to take a break, clean your brush so there is no dry/semi-dry paint in it to foul things up.

For a small area, I'd load very little paint into the brush and less than a third of the length of the bristles.

Thank you for the reply Bob, The problem I have is the areas are too small to mask up and spray effectively but big enough to notice if the paint doesn't go on properly.

I use WEM paints as much as possible and while they spray great I have to admit that I have never had much real sucess brush painting except for touch ups. Larger areas they just don't seem to brush well. I'd love to hear if anybody has any suggestions for brush painting Colourcoats enamels.

Hello all is there a correct way to brushing on enamels my efforts are at best naff, matt paints not drying matt despite a lot of mixing . I am using WEM paints. (Which spray beautifully ) please help.
