Don't waste money on these gels...ordinary cheap plaster of Paris works just as well...with paint and warnish on top.

Hi Guys,
I have try Zip, it's a sillicone but made for windows and we could remove it ....
Really not expensive...and it smell vanilla ....so that's my choice...but I have to works on the white paint to make the waves...i'm not satisfied...

Yep, silicone from Walmart or Home depot is easy to use and cheap.
Paint card board with various blue; glue ship's shadow to it; cover with silicone and let it dry; cut shadow out of board; paint wave tops with white.

Consider using silicon. Cheap and easy to find. I used this method on my last project (first time ever to try water) and the overall effect is quite good because being transparent gives a fairly good depth effect applying the paint on the flat surface below.

Ok Guys, I have finf the Liquitex brand in a store...but it's really expensive...22$ for 946ml (1/4 of a gallon or 1 liter)..

Will I have enough of 1 liter to make a 1/350 Nimitz carrier???
Model is 39"....so wood sheet maybe 45" X 24"....
WHat do you thing?

You can find the "Golden" brand of acrylic gels in art supply stores. Michael's might carry it. If you live in the Toronto area, I know that Curry's and Loomis carry it.

Hi, I live in the Uk and I'm building a 1/72 corvette on a sea base. I ordered a one gallon tub of acrylic gel from a shop in London. However, it was made in Canada. The name is : Rheotech, and is made by: Tri-Art Mfg.Inc, Kingston, On.

You can buy it in various quantities. Hope this is of use.

It is available either in tubes or small pots and is used to thicken acrylic paint to give it more texture. Look in your local art shop and just ask if you can't find it, they should be able to help.

By the way there are varying thicknesses, I use the medium to build up the waves and the fine to finish them off so they are smooth.

Do you have a Michaels arts and crafts store? That's where I got mine. You can probably get it at other arts and crafts store.

As for in Canada I am not sure. If you find an Art supply store look for "Liquidtex" mediums around the canvas area.
