Sweet..... :thumbs_up_1: :thumbs_up_1: water jets are fun but I like props on big ships better!!
I like the lengthened hull, but it looks almost too long if that's possible? I like the look of the Kongo class and Atago class ships and the Korean version is stacked with VLS modules.

Post some pic's in the Builds section once you have some construction underway mate!

Cheers Bruce :thumbs_up_1: :thumbs_up_1:

Bruce:

I'm working on a 'stretched and modified' BURKE-cruiser, built as if the cold-war with the Soviet Union had continued and the USN needed an air dominance replacement for TICONDEROGA cruisers.

I've gone through quite a few incarnations, from a ship based on an ALASKA-sized hull to a 25,000 ton CG(X) to a modified LPD-17 before finally settling on the current design, which is an ATAGO destroyer hull stretched to about the same size as CGBL (Cruiser Baseline- roughly 660'). I used BURKE Flight III, ATAGO, and SEJONG THE GREAT as the basis for most of the design, while stealing some features from other ships that I liked - Mk110 57mm guns and Mk57 VLS from DDG-1000, water jet propulsion from VISBY/LCS.

While I wanted to create a design that is somewhat based upon reality, I also added some admittedly unrealistic features like water jets because I wanted to do something different.

Here's the most up-to-date drawing. I'd say its about 80% complete, with a few bits to be re-done (i.e. not happy with the mast).

Thanks again.

APS Models here in Australia does most of those fittings (except the 57mm mk110 I think) Allan Pew doesn't have a website but you can e-mail him at apsmods@bigpond.net.au

I'm not sure this is the best place for this post, so feel free to move it if it isn't.

I'm look for a source for the following USN fittings in 1:72 scale. While I can scratch build them, my preference would be to purchase them if possible.

- 5"/62 (12.7 cm) Mark 45 Mod 4
- 57 mm/70 (2.25") Mark 110 Mod 0
(I know Resin Shipyard has them, but I want to wait to order in case I find a one-stop-shopping opportunity)
- 25 mm/87 (1") Mark 38 Mod 2 Machine Gun System
- Mark 32 Mod 15 324mm SVTT
- Mk-144 Guided Missile Launcher (RAM)
- 7(?)-meter RHIB (USN designation unknown)
- Life raft containers

Thanks in advance for any information!
Chris
