Looking great James! PE is unfortunately a necessary evil, especially given your ambitious build plan  It may be a pain, but you're doing a great job at it. Patience is key.

Maybe that will work for you, it just made me feel like an idiot. :lol_4:

James

Great job there, I too feel your pain with PE. I hate working with it too, I always mess it up or crush it during a build.

Thanks Mark.

Not much of an update. Managed a bit more assembly on the LHD-6 island. I really hate working with PE.

James
Your lighting looks AWESOME!
I wonder what the grid work is. It looks like they did it to the catwalks forward of that.

Going over research material, I found an interesting image of grid patterns on the weapons platforms I had not seen before. Can someone give some background on this? Very much want to incorporate this on the Bonhomme Richard.

They etch the railings where you need to bend them.
This was the first time I ever used PE like this.

These made bending around the radomes a breeze.
I think I got them at Hobby Lobby, and I use them a lot.

Can't wait to see how nice the KA set is for the Iwo.
Ah I have got to get those!! Can't wait to get my hands on the KA set.

One little thing: did you paint the island with glossy paint?

Keep up the good work, James!

Cheers: Laci
Thanks Laci! I gave the whole ship a coat of future for decal application and oil weathering. The island has her flat coat now.

Thanks guys. I really hate rigging so I do bare minimum just so I can say I did it. I use 20 den caenis line which is thinner than hair, hard to work with, hard to see, but, it looks more realistic.

Change of plan for LHD-6. Originally I planned to build these OOB. The WASP is OOB with the exception of the LED lighting and two leftover ladders from a Nimitz set. However, I just can't resist using the KA Iwo Jima set on the Bonhomme Richard as much as I can.

Looks great! Your rigging came out perfect.
