I'm wondering about British earlier ships, outfitted for oropesa minesweeping, with the greater amount of eqpt on the fantail. (as opposed to the ships outfitted for magnetic minesweeping, which only required a reel for a single line out the centerline)
I'm starting to get the impression that the Canadian ships had the squared stern, which coincidentally provided more working space. And the British ships, when fitted for minesweeping, had to make do with the smaller area available with the British rounded stern.
