Hi, your Brisbane build was the inspiration for my build - future Hunter Class Frigate in progress. I hope I can do it justice (and complete it).

Wow! What an awesome build, so detailed and a great tribute to the real HMAS Brisbane AWD.
I think I spent nearly two hours reading (drooling, lol) over the 13 pages of this build. Great to see the craftsmanship, inspiring!

I've been trying to find some suitable hand wheels for the various fire hose valve connections and came across these 1/72 modern USN carrier deck tie downs from BNA models in Melbourne. They're about 3mm diameter and perfect for the valve hand wheels and of course the flight deck tie downs. For the tie downs id originally just drilled a slight indent into the deck without thinking about actually putting in tie downs as from a distance that's what they look like anyway but now it's just finished them off

Also picked up these cool D shackles. They're actually for 1/35 tanks but perfect for my mooring buoy

My small crew arrived! These are 1/72 gunthwaite RAN modern figures 1&2. They're not too bad, clean and decent detailed sailors in the RAN DPNU working uniforms (disruptive pattern navy uniform). The pattern is the same as the army 'can't see me suits' but in a mixture of greys and some green mixed in. The only disappointing but is that in a pack of 3 figures on 1 is wearing a baseball cap and the others are wearing the wide brimmed sun hats. Sailors do wear both but the ball caps are definitely the preferred choice of headwear. Nonetheless once painted up I think they look pretty cool. Some even have sunnies! (Sunglasses)

Sailors with ball caps painted up in DPNU camo, silver reflective strips, soft rank insignia boards and a white strip (real uniforms have a RAN white ensign) the ranks are just a fine dob of yellow paint but you'll notice one figure has scrambled eggs on his cap - the skipper

Haha thanks yeah that's not mine. If I drove a british sports car it would have to be either an Aston Martin or one of those cool looking Morgan's

my main car is a Ford Falcon G6 - think the size of a large Mercedes sedan. Brisbane can fit in there but I have to take all the superstructure off first though. The car I use most of the time to transport Brisbane is a 4wd with the rear seats taken out so I can slide Brisbane straight in without worrying about the height or length, not as comfy as my G6 though haha.

The VLS is just the dummy one on there ATM, I've found a couple places in perth that do stock the micro rocket motors but like Bruce mentioned, in Australia some of these motors are class as dangerous firearms. I haven't looked into it proper as yet but I'm sure the ones if need don't require a special permit to buy and use, just have to be over 18 (not a problem there) and have ID etc

I am not sure if the boys in Perth have received their micro rocket motors yet....Scott was having all kinds of fun trying to find a transport company that would ship the motors Rob (owner of the Kirov and Roosevelt) had bought (since they are classed as dangerous goods) from Adelaide to Perth! One mob wanted 600bucks to ship a 6" x6"x6" box that weighs stuff all!!

Pretty awesome video. And of course pretty awesome models starring in it. If you'd drive that car, I understand what the problem is for transporting your model

Looks like your Brisbane is longer than that black car... (although still cheaper I assume, or should I say, "less expensive"?).

So the VLS you have onboard now is a mock-up and the working one is still off? Or is this the working one, but just not hooked up to electronics yet?

Haha yeah those ducks weren't bothered at all by the boats.

The camera is a really cool idea, I want to set one up in my bridge especially once my VLS is up and running

Those ducks must be regulars - they seem hardly phased! Good thing they didn't have any chicks nearby.

Yesterday, Sunday the 18th we had one of our largest displays of the year at the british car show in GinGin about an hour or so north of perth. We (Fleet Base Perth of task force 72) display with another model boat club AMMS here in perth. It's a side attraction for the day but a great location and a full festival with markets and stalls for families not only the amazing cars.

I'm very proud if this built, I have to keep reminding myself that it's a working model at times!

Perth is a great little city - were still basically a bug country town which is why I love it, though it's expanding like never before. Were the mining state in Australia, not the only state but the main provider of resources in mining comes from WA - it's because of this the expansion has been happening. You'd still recognise the place but a lot has changed especially Freo (Fremantle). Every time I speak to ex or current USN service people, they always mention the fun times they had in perth, it's good to see this hasn't changed over the years

Truly AMAZING work Perth! Wow! It's breathtaking the amount of detail you put in her.

I have a very good friend of mine from my Mercedes Forum that lives in Perth named Kim Holmes. And I visited Perth in 1981 when I was in the Navy and had the best Liberty I ever had in the Navy.

Finished off the main parts of the fantail railings. I think that's all the railing now complete, just a few additional details to them and I can move on to the next job.

Haha thanks Lyall, I've already got a 1/72 RC blackhawk which I can takeoff and land on the helo deck without hitting anything! It's IR only though so won't work outside and even if it would you could only use it in absolutely no wind, but the technology isn't far. There's already 1/48 scale helo's with full RC! I am planning on seeing if one of the smaller full operating helo's can be bashed with a seahawk or mrh-90 taipan body. From what I've seen it's still a tad large.

Some more little updates today. Almost all of the railings on the hanger roof and surrounds are made up. Needs painting then glueing in.

While moving things around I found that elusive clear acetate sheet I lost! So the RHIB windshields are now on

Have also added the aft mini typhoon splinter shields.
With these and the ones on the bridge roof I still need to add the bolts on the front of the shields.

Very nice perth, What is next? A working helo that is flow off the deck when sailing lol. That would be a sight to see.
