I have a photo of this operational use of the boat boom that is dated 1931
This is a crop from a larger photo of Iowa at NY, 1943. The Port side Aft boat boom is rigged but not out. You can see the king post which sits in a deck fitting and supports the rigging lines. You can also see the fittings on the hull which support the boom when it is stowed.
Iowa enroute museum duty, Starboard forward Accommodation Ladder, lifted but not stowed.
