Terrific addition Ian. Thank you and outstanding collection. As you add (pictures or new models, keep it updated so people will have an opportunity to see the latest and greatest). Thanks for the addition.

Matt

Hi Ian. Thanks for posting that link....I enjoyed looking at your extensive collection, wow! I noticed several of your ships were at the CAMS shows...does this pic ring a bell? (my St. Laurent was right beside your Haida on the judging table!)

Small world eh? Amazing collection of ships you have, just amazing. Thanks again for posting that link. Cheers. -Tim/Fredericton

Matt above is a link to pictures of some of my model collection. Out of their normal home cramped in 12 display cabinets.

Not well photographed Im afraid. HAve over 1100 in all scales as completed models including a few hundred ships.

Primary interest is Royal Canadian Navy 1/700. 1/350,1/72, Royal Canadian Air Force 1/72/1/48 , and Royal Canadian Army 1/35.1/72

Here is the first "installment" in this thread that includes a link to my personal collection. I've posted pictures up of some of the ships at various times so some of you might have seen some of these pictures before. That said, many pictures are new and I intend to add to them as I acquire new models or get requests from others for more detail.

Collection Information
Owner: Matt Gill
Location: Atlanta, GA (USA)
Venue: My home
Scales: 1/192, 1/144, 1/96
Source: Primarily professional model builders (which does not include me ;-)
Displays: Full hull, keel blocks, dioramas (only for 1/350 scale ships)

Hope you enjoy and look forward to your thoughts and comments.

Model Ship Collections On-line

by Matt Gill » Mon Dec 30, 2013 4:14 pm

Over the years, there have been a variety of posts that have highlighted some amazing private collections of model ships that span many different scales, styles, and locations. Every time I see a picture, I'm fascinated with what others build or collect, how they display them, etc. I also find myself on occasion trying to go back and find certain photos when looking for ideas or references but often they tend disappear into the sands of time.

I thought I'd open a thread focused on providing people who are interested with links to various model ship collections that are documented with on-line photos. To simplify the experience for people, I've been experimenting with a new feature on the on-line "Photobucket" application called stories which provides a single link to series of photos and notes. In the following post, you'll see my first attempt to begin sharing ships in my collection with photos as well as notes and comments. The nice thing about this will be that as I add ships or get requests, I can simply modify the story and everyone will have access.

No idea if folks will like this idea (vs. embedding links into a thread) but if you do and have a collection you'd like to share, feel free to post it here so we can all enjoy what we've built and/or collected with others who may have an interest.

Your comments and ideas to make this a better thread are always appreciated.

Matt
