Will be interesting to see how the Pontos windows come out. Always these things are a challenge of imagination, engineering and technique. The bridge windows are always a draw item for these ships.

Tom,

According to Cliffy B the windows are 25"x35" (all - both levels) so the Pontos windows are still my choice. They don't provide window/door for the angled bulkhead closing the bridge at the after end of it - so, I'll modify the kit plastic to match the window frames of the PE brass (hopefully!).

I haven't given the glass issue any thought at present - that's something to consider, however.

Thanks for the info on this. Are you going to glass these in or, go with the windows rolled down?

Comparing the kit bridge windows with the Pontos Brass bridge window replacements, and to the scaled drawing in The Floating Drydock's MISSOURI Plan Book, I am going to use the Pontos Replacement as it looks to be closest to the actual square bridge on the IOWA's as built. This follows for the Admiral's Bridge windows below on the 03 Level.

The actual openings on the Pontos parts seems to be 5/32" x 1/8" = @ 1:200 to be 31 1/4" x 25" as near as I can measure them. TFD Plan Book shows these as 37"x24" but that is measuring the drawing in the book as no actual dimensions are given. The kit part is a bit shy of these dimensions as well as the separations between windows seems way out of scale. I could file out the plastic kit windows, but why waste the time when the Pontos PE will work fine in its place?

Hope this info is helpful to those building the Trumpy 1:200 MISSOURI kit or similar ones.

I am adding a request to Cliffy B on his BB64 photo request thread to measure the WISCONSIN's windows and then we'll all know exactly what's what :thumbs_up_1:
