Thanks, second coat in of the WEM paints the deck is looking better.

I still cant get over the colour of the decks of Daring in that photo I took.

I kid you not that the first coat I did the deck colour of the WEM paint looked identical to the water.

You may be able to find the answer to accuracy of the colours of the modelling paints by starting here:

https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/warpaint

and then cross referencing the paints authorised to the websites of the authorised manufacturers and their catalogues/paint charts.

The annexes give quite detailed guides as to which paint is used where.

Do let us know how you get on!

Best wishes.

Finally I have a photo I took as an example.

I am trying to create models of ships that attended the International Fleet Review in Sydney in October 2013. Above is a photo I personally took from a scenic helicopter fligt during the event.

Note the deck colours of HMS Daring look a distinct shade of grey and do not appear to have the greenish tint as seen in the WEM tins. Which is why I am asking if the RN has changed their paints in recent years since the WEM paints have been in production.

The Airfix kit of which I am working with supplied paints but I have no idea on how accurate those paints are. The WEM paints have always proved reliable to me and their JMSDF paints are spot on for what I observed of their ship at the Fleet Review.

Any help on paints would be greatly appreciated.

Modern RN Type 45 colours

Just checking that the Royal Navy has not changed their paint colours in recent years with the new addition of these ships and the stealth technology. There is a lot of information on paint being changed in its properties to reduce the radar signature.

I trust WEM CC paints the most and have in my possession their tins of which I will use for the 1/350 HMS Daring kit.

However I do not have a modern colour for antifouling red.

Q's
1.) Is the Airfix paint accurate supplied in their kits?
2.) What colour are modern RN decks? is the WEM paints still accurate.
