Hey guys,
today is the 70 year anniversary of the annihilation of Japanese Leyte convoy TA-5 and the escort / light cruiser Yasoshima, so I prepared an article for my buddies at
http://www.modellmarine.de - I also finished three modified 2nd class transports of the T-103 class (build from Tamiyas T-101 class) which met their fates alongside Yasoshima.

I'm not sure if this is "allowed" in the model ship community, but I photo shopped some of the pictures and added smoke to the stacks. This was great fun, so I decided to add some drama to the battle scenes, too

but the wakes, the white cotton stuff and the planes are real
What a nice day; Yasoshima, T-113, T-142 and T-161 just left Manila and are northbound near the coast of Luzon.
Suddenly, US carrier planes from TF38 appear over the doomed ships...
The flagship of TransRon1, the ex-Chinese light cruiser Yasoshima, moments before being mortally wounded by a torpedo.
In the back one of the attacking Avengers just scored a direct hit on T-113!
T-161 swinging hard to port trying to avoid American bombs. All three LSTs were sunk during this action, the small convoy was a total loss...
Non-photo shopped pictures of the models
in the original article.
Have fun
