Outstanding! A very impressive build. I can understand the amount of time it took you to build her considering all the detail and especially the massive amount of 20 mm and 40 mm anti-aircraft weaponry. I'm hoping to start on my 1/350 Missouri this summer, using the LionRoar upgrade set and as much 3-D printed AA as possible to minimize the tedium attached to that aspect of the model. I'd love to see more pics of your build and she definitely deserves to be in the gallery when finally completed to your satisfaction. Again, very well done, sir.

Wow Mike, what an impressive model! Thank you for allowing the rest of us to enjoy the fruits of your labor. From the level of detail and the amount of care that went into this ship, I can easily how it would take you ten years to finish. You should be proud.

Now, on another note, the photographs of this ship at sea totally blew me away. Can you please take a minute and tell us how you did this - or point us in the direction of some kind of tutorial on taking these type of photos?

Extremely well photo-documented too; who cares that the workbench is visible in the background, the closeup photos are sublime. I think maybe if the author tried to produce "boutique" photos, the results wouldn't be as good. :big_grin:

A "bitching rail". That's what my ex needed to lean against any time she had much to say to me, especially about my hobby.

Great work on the ship as well as the great photography. I am going to be starting the Trumpeter 1/200 USS Missouri in a couple of days. Waiting for the PE kits to come from Australia.

For the information of further builders, the signal halyards attach to a "bitching rail" about 5ft fwd of and parallel to the flag bags. At least BB63 is configured that way. The footplate at the fwd edge of the flag bags is about 18" wide and consists of several wooden planks about one step off the deck.

Got my Eduard PE in the mail today.

This looks fantastic, next Friday I will be ordering my first 1/350, but the Mo is definitely on the list of things to come. It looks like you, along with almost everybody else, paints things as they go instead of assembling everything and then painting. Do you ever get anything that you have to touch up due to the glue bleaching after it dries?

My wife got me the Eduard PE set for Christmas, but we're still waiting on it to be delivered.

I love the scale 1/350 but I've never built anything so big. It 's really realistic!
Congratulations on your skill and your dexterity and always thanks to the wonderful accessories in PE.

GMM PE set is excellent, but I would consider adding the float baskets set by GMM as well. it is very tedious and the main reason it took so long as I burned out building the 20 mm & 40 mm guns. My eyes are still recovering from straining them to rig the ship.

Love it. Really good photography too.
I've had my Missouri kit for over ten years now. It too is sitting, incomplete, on the shelf of shame.
I haven't gotten a PE set for it yet. Couldn't decide which one I wanted. Seeing your model may have convinced me to go with GMM.

I have been working on this for some ten years! It sat on the shelf of doom for many of those ten years. I have just a few things left to install.
