As I am in a rural area and on a septic system I don't like the idea of lacqers, solvents, etc. Simple Green is biodegradable which is a bonus.

I use mostly Tamiya paint and I clean my airbrush by stripping it down to clean and then shooting lacquer thinner through it. However, I found that going to my local home improvement store (Menards, Home depot, etc) and buying a gallon of lacquer thinner works just as well as Tamiya's does. Doesn't cost as much, either.

I don't really like soaking my airbrushes - rather strip them down and scrub, then shoot cleaner through them. I've been using Tamiya laquer thinner for this as it is what I use to thin Tamiya paint, but gets expensive for a dual purpose. Is Simple Green liquidy enough to do this, and is it strong enough to clean out paint thinned with Tamiya laquer thinner?

Thanks for the reply. Hope it works for you. Just used it twice today. See my other post about 'Carpet monsters.'

If Simple Green is inexpensive I'll have to try it. I also use mostly Tamiya acrylics.

While researching how to clean 3D parts, came across 'SIMPLE GREEN' ( available in Canada through Canadian Tire) . I use Tamiya acrylics. Tried it cleaning my airbrush parts - soaked them overnight and they came perfectly clean with no effort involved. Left a paintbrush in it overnight and it's back to brand new !
