Great to know! So, Hasegawa does acknowledge the issue. The fix must be something like a firmer composition styrene. Thx for posting the heads-up.

I purchased this kit back in the spring and once I received it, was surprised to see there was an extra hull in the box. It came with a note that basically said (in Japanese) "This is the correct A-1 part. Please use this copy of part A-1"(sic). The extra looked exactly like the one in the bag with the rest of the kit parts sprues. Unable to see any apparent differences in its size, location of parts pin holes, or structures/features molded onto the deck, I shrugged my shoulders and set the kit aside in my stash and that was that.

Last week I read the above review and figured out what the extra hull is all about. I pulled it out and checked to see how flat the extra hull is. Sure enough, it's pretty well flat. The hull in the parts bag is curved up the bow and stern. There you go....

Re: Hasegawa 1/700 Asashio Hull "Sagging"

I have a couple of the Hasegawa Asashios... I should look to see how badly the hulls are sagging.

I know that the Aoshima Takao has a really badly hogged hull that I completely screwed up on my first attempt to straighten it (leading to me having to buy another kit, when all I needed was the hull).

I would prefer to avoid that with the Asashio kits.

I have corrected the "sagging" condition on the Hasegawa hulls noted by Dan K in his review. It is a little more difficult than other hulls I have done due to the molding shape and thinner wall hull sides in the forecastle area. Send me a PM if interested in trying this.
