The Japanese Wikipedia writes the name of the second ship, DDG-180, as "???", which is "Haguro", see the page about the cruiser of the Myoko class (in brackets):
https://ja.wikipedia.org/wiki/%E7%BE%BD ... %E8%89%A6)

According to Wikipedia, compared to the Atago class, the Maya class has larger hull, has electric motors (COGLAG propulsion), and the new Type 17 anti-ship missile plus some other not so visible differences:

The 2nd ship in the Maya class AEGIS destroyers has just been launched: I assume the name "Haguru" is just a different Romanji spelling for"Haguro"?

NOTE: This is an updated, retitled thread. Please scroll down for the latest updates.

Yet another belated post:It is fitting that they would name another AEGIS destroyer after the WW2 Atago and Myoko class cruisers, considering the previous Japanese AEGIS DDGs such as the Atago and Takao carried on the old namesakes of their predecessors.
