I finally picked up a copy of the late George Moore's Admiralty Job Numbers at the WSS naval conference.

They had about the last 10 for sale priced at the bargain 6.50, I looked at many dealers but couldn't find one at reasonable price.

So if your after a copy get in touch with the World Ship Society from their website:-

Thank you Terry I'm still waiting for the WSS to ship my book!!! :mad_1: :mad_1: :mad_1:

It's such a shame that George Moore died from a sudden heartattack and this makes Building For Victory his last published work.

Hallo Lawrence,

have at last checked Moores book (titled "Building for Victory", not "Building for War"), and the Admiralty Job Numbers are included in appendix one, which lists all major vessels (from BB's to Sloops but excludes other smaller Escort Vessels) ordered or under construction at or just before the war started.
The Job Numbers were apparently introduced at the beginning of the war for security reasons.
The volume is well up to the standard of other WSS books, and has a good selection of sketch drawings and potographs, as well as the tables.

Terry that book I've had on order with the WSS for some time, so I'm not sure.

Weren't they given in his WSW book Building for War ?

I can check this evening when I get back home from work, but I am fairly certain that the job numbers, as well as the builders numbers were given.

Terry
