Re: CA glue problems

I have never ever used a bottle of CA to the very end :woo_hoo: . Sooner or later the tops get stuck or it starts to set in the bottle. Perhaps I don't use enough of it.

I avoid CA glues whenever possible and use fast-drying lacquers instead, typically zapon-lacquer, which is very similar in composition to nail varnish, but less viscous and a lot cheaper on the price per volume. If you don't like a joint, a drop of aceton will loosen it. Brushes etc. can also be cleaned with acetone.

I've never had this particular style of container clog on me:

I also use the drop-on-a-palette method. A large rounded drop will survive a surprisingly long time.

To prevent glue from clogging the tip, put the lid/cap on after you "unsqueeze" the CA bottle - that allows the glue to leave the tip and reenter the bottle's body, clearing the space in the tip so it won't clog that space.

Thats a good idea with the paint bristle, I use a Tamiya spray can with the top on it as a palette for CA and I have the applicator things that have a pointy tip on it to apply the CA.

Since it takes very little CA to secure a part I squeeze out a few drops onto a palette (I use the plastic pop bottle caps, or milk carton caps) and use a piece of stretched sprue, or a single bristle of a large paint brush as applicator. When dry CA starts to build up on the tip I just clip it off and use the rest until it's too short for use.

CA glue problems

I love CA glue its great for attaching small parts really quickly before they get a chance to move then I can zap them with accelerator if needed. The one problem that drives me nuts is that it clogs the tip pretty often, I know you can use acetone to clear the clog but is there anything I can use that will help me dispense CA better with a metal tip maybe and thats precise as well.
