Topic review - Help with Tetra Deck

Folks,

This is my first post and I'm new to ship modelling, but not new to modeling. I started this shipbuilding journey with the new 1/700 Hasegawa Akagi adding to it both the Tetra detail PE set and the wooden deck. The PE is superb and easy to work with, but need some advice on the deck.

I've attached the deck to the plastic using sargentx's execllent process using the Krlon Matte spray to kill the adhesive and then using a gel medium to attache the deck. Works amazingly well.

I've read the FAQ's and am working my way through Tips and Tricks (about halfway through), and have a question about how to finish and weather this deck.

I've read in one topic that Minwax stain could be used. Not sure if this is the usual approach, and before I wreck the deck I though I'd reach out and see what the consensus is on finishing a wooden deck like this.

Thanks for any help you can provide.
