Excellent job on the Maya. I went through the same nightmare with the Fyhawk set when I did my Myoko. Calling the instructions poor is rather soft! Cheers. :thumbs_up_1:

I definitely agree...somehow the AA platforms made the profile of the ship that much more prettier :)

Myoko 1945 is a close second tho

Thanks guys!!

Yea this build has definitely been an intellectual exercise on tolerance and patience at times lol
Definitely learned alot on pe and scratch building though. hopefully the pontos Kongo and yamato won't be as frustrating, though I am budgeting that in due to its complexity...

Congratulations! Great looking build. Makes me want to drag my Mogami and/or Mikasa out of the stash and start to work!

Finally Finished the years long build of Aoshima's 1/350 Maya Retake Version
complete with Flyhawk detail set, Veteran details sets (Binos,Searchlights, type 89, 95 guns, fire control, paravane, Type 22 rader) jack/ensign staffs borrowed from my Kongo set (because there was none.....) EZ Line rigging (yes I cheated...) and a Pit Road Recon Plane.

I must say that the Flyhawk set was definitely a love hate relationship as the details were nice but the execution was questionable and sometimes frustrating at times. :censored_2: There were assemblies that didn't fit and the instructions at times were vague and difficult to decipher. Not to mention, there were many parts that were not detailed at all in the literature. basically, make sure you are experienced in modifying PE sets to fit before you attempt it unless you are willing to lose a few patches of hair. I also made the mistake of over tensioning the EZ line on the mast and it ended up bending it :(. Next up... Yamato 1946! :destroyer:

And now for photos:
