Same here, hard core brush painter!
It kind of depends what glue you use. Most glue will attack the paint, that is the reason why I don't really paint parts before I attach them.
It will take you some experience to see which parts you can paint before you attach them and which parts can wait.
Mostly I just take a look at the sequence, if there is any piece that protrudes, then it's better to paint the piece that's below it first. If you have to do touch ups after the glue messed it up, you will hardly see the difference between the first layer of paint the one applied afterwards.
I think that's about the most important lesson when you're doing small scale. See the sequence of painting and constructing.
Of course the first step is looking for the right colour and scheme, but I guess you already figured that out :thumbs_up_1:
Good luck with the model and certainly post some pictures of the progress if you can!

Hi again and thanks for the fast response. I will be brush painting.

Okay first off, will you be brush painting or airbrushing? Either way there are a few very simple steps, you may already know, like painting most pieces on the sprue and touching up when the pieces are cut off. I have absolutley no experience airbrushing, but if your brush painting, I can help you there as I have done it for seven years.

Hey guys, I just purchased my first model ship (Tamiya Waterline Series: Pirnce of Wales 1/700).

Building and putting it together should be no problem, but as far as painting, I'm clueless. I have no such skill.

I'm going for the weathered look, like its been used versus brand new and shiny.

I was hoping if someone could walk and guide through each individual step as I progress. I was looking at some pictures of the work and effort you all put into your models and I hope to someday be at that level.

I'm not expecting my first model to look perfect and special, but at least decent.
