My father was a 21 year old AG3 aboard USS California on "the day". Needless to say he retained a lifelong interest in what the heck happened. Don't we all. To my fellow Pearl Harbor nuts, if you are cruising I-80 in Wyoming, take one of the Laramie exits and travel a few blocks to the American Heritage Center and ask for Collection No. 03800. You'll get 25.15 cubic feet of documents (56 boxes) of the papers of Admiral Kimmel. Enjoy, and give the man his due.
