There is only ONE 1/200 Hornet kit, and it's molded by Trumpeter, marketed by Merit.

So the Merit kit is the same as the Trumpeter kit? Or was that a misprint by the review article?

I'm so confused! :lol_3:

I haven't seen that set before...I admit I see the potential for the kit now!

Yeah, well, if your signature is any judge... ;)

The only thing is that I might not necessarily want to do the thing with the Doolittle raid, so if/when I get this beast of a kit, there might be a Trading Post soon after wondering about trading the Mitchells and their associated decals for MOAR carrier aircraft. TBH, I'd almost rather do the surgery to turn Hornet into Enterprise or Yorktown so I won't have to faff about with the Modified Measure 22camouflaged superstructures and I have had a sordid history.

Besides, with the bit of tweaking I've done to Tamiya's 1/700 Yorktown, there's already a bit of conversion experience.

Well then, let's just hope their supply holds out until I get that tax refund... ;)

Yeah, I just meant who is selling it Stateside and for what price.

That's actually very very reasonable, considering that the Trumpy Missouri is selling for about $115 more on Squadron. On the other hand, I don't have PayPal and would rather avoid having to get one...assuming there's no alternate payment methods. It would be interesting to modify her to represent the Enterprise or Yorktown...

Thanks, Timmy!

Not sure what you mean with that question, but Freetime/PacFront has it for $360: http://www.freetimehobbies.com/1-200-me ... model-kit/

Might get this instead of the 1/200 Missourilack of aftermarket stuff doesn't bother me.

That's the only online build I've seen of it too. My guess is that kit is a flop.

Too bad... I hope the rumored 1/200 Essex doesn't get canceled on the assumption that nobody's interested in a huge aircraft carrier kit. (they'd better work harder on accuracy too! :heh:)
The Hornet is a nice kit and most of us are just waiting on the photoetch sets for it. I have the hull sanded smooth and now working on the shafts. I have also arranged and cut the hangar roller doors at different heights. The portholes on the forward hull are not round and need filling and redrilling.

Talking to so LHS folk, it sold decently for them. I think people are simply waiting on a decent detail set.

I am thinking about buying the Merit MIL62001 - 1/200 Hornet CV8 and was wondering if it is a good model and can I also buy any upgrades for the ship and the B-25s
Thank You
