Thanks Stefano. I'm not planning to do all of the drawings in the Friedman book though as at my current average building speed this will take me deep into the next century and I think the later first class cruiser were quite ugly vessels. On the other hand I have been looking at Barham/Bellona as a next project....

Great work! I thought about to built one of these early torpedo cruisers myself several times. Nice so see that someone realised such an idea.

Pieter,

Really nice work. Great combination of scratch building and commercial details yielded a very professional result. Terrific subject and era to model. Well done, sir.

Best Regards,

Mac

...No, not that one...
The torpedo cruiser of 1886. Always liked the lines of these early torpedo cruisers so when Friedman's Victorian Cruisers book came it was the first project I started. Scratchbuilt hull in balsa/styrene with artwox generic wooden decks based on AD Bakers' side and top views.I worked out the waterline and a few hull sections using the pictures in the same book and on line sources. Boats and weapons came from various Kombrig and S models kits.

And while I was finishing the project I managed to find a 2nd class torpedo boat based on a metal casting from the old HiMold Mikasa kit. As I started that one back in 1999 I can now say that this is the longest running project I have ever finished -:).
